Roger Kellaway ci da’ la possibilita’ di presentare all’attento pubblico italiano una etichetta audiophile tra le piu’ importanti negli States : la Ipo Recodings. Prima di presentare l’artista, un grande, lo potete ascoltare anche da voi stessi, diamo alcune informazioni tecniche su come il cd è stato registrato. Ogni altra parola sulla registrazione penso sia di troppo e per chi avremo il piacere di incontrare al Roma Hi End potra’ ascoltare di prima persona di cosa stiamo parlando.

A questo punto passiamo a spendere quattrro chiacchere su Roger Kellaway. In America è descritto come un “musical Chameleon “, un camaleonte musicale e potremmo dire che tale definizione non può essere inappropriata visto che il nostro non solo ha suonato con e per Duke Ellington, Elvis Presley, Sonny Rollins, Joni Michell, Natalie Cole, Quincy Jones passando tranquillamente dal rock and roll al jazz, dal folk al pop , ma come compositore ha anche scritto lavori orchestrali per la Philharmonic Orchestra di New York e di Los Angeles oltre che pieces per il New York City Ballet.

Ma il grande pubblico ha sempre ricordato Roger Kallaway come autore della colonno sonora del celebre film “ A Star Is Born” con Barbara Streisand, colonna solora che gli valse una nomination alla Academy Award. In questo cd Roger prende spunto dalle canzoni preferite del grande Bobby Darin, canzoni che ha diretto e suonato centinaia di volte quandone era direttore musicale negli anni 60, per rispresentarcele in una stupenda veste di piano solo. La scintilla che ha portato il nostro a cimentarsi oggi con questa grande parentesi del passato è stata la collaborazione con Kevin Spacey per il film Beyond The Sea basato per l’appunto sulla vita di Bobby Darin.
