You all know this moment when you listen to a new album for the very first time. You don’t know what you’ll hear before the CD starts spinning. Even with a new album by The Brandos when it’s ten years after the last album with new studio material had been released.
The title track kicks off with a (Mexican flair) intro which reminds on “Legend of Xanadu” - well - in some ways..., followed by a typical Brandos hookline and the long-missed Brandos trademark, Dave Kincaid’s unique voice and the band’s great harmony vocals. "Walking Home" goes in the same direction, while "The Only Love I Can Get" features Free/Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke on a dark and rumbling rocker. It’s surf time on "She's The One", followed by the centerpiece of the album, a 7 minute ride on “The Triangle Fire” featuring Jerry O’Sullivan on Uilleann Pipes battling with Kincaid’s electric guitar - definately another Brandos crowd
The Brandos 2006 are Dave Kincaid on lead & backing vocals, guitars and mandolin and Ernie Mendillo on bass and vocals. Ex-member Frank Funaro played drums on all the songs (except Dennis Diken on “She’s The One” and “He’s Waiting” and Simon Kirke on “The Only Love I Can Get”), Andy Burton played the Hammond Organ while Jerry O’Sullivan showed his skills on the Uileann Pipes and whistle. Produced and arranged was Over The Border by Dave Kincaid. ( From official bioghraphy )
